I am a trained Social Worker since 1985, having entered into private practice in 2009. I have since expanded my professional knowledge base to include clinical pastoral care through a masters course in 2008 and a doctorate in 2018. This has enabled me to become more inter-disciplinary, applying therapeutic knowledge and skills based on a wider range of models, which compliments my social work knowledge and skills. It also enhances my diagnostic and assessment skills as a social worker. Some of the life challenges in which the acquired knowledge and skills can be applied in counselling include the following areas:
- counselling persons with adjustment difficulties with physical illness
- bereavement counselling
- trauma counselling
- substance dependence
- marriage and couples counselling
- life transition difficulties
- family and group therapy
Some of the counselling models applied include: * Brief therapy * Person-centred Therapy
* Multi- Level Neuro Therapy
* Narrative Therapy
