OPERATIONS
The Operations function is the engine room of SAASWIPP, working tirelessly behind the scenes to create a smooth and valuable experience for every member. This dedicated team manages administration, marketing, membership support, ethics, branch activities, the Growth Investment Forum, specialisations, finances, and education and research. By coordinating these areas, Operations ensures that members have access to seamless communication, professional growth opportunities, ethical guidance, innovative initiatives, and the resources they need to thrive in private practice.
Growth Investment Forum
The Growth Investment Forum is an upcoming initiative designed to support SAASWIPP members through education, supervision, mentoring, and consultation. Led by experienced professionals, this offering will be tailored to the specific needs of mentees, with structured guidelines in place.
Objectives:
- Support new SAASWIPP members in establishing ethical private practices
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for existing members
- Foster integration and connection within the SAASWIPP community
- Encourage potential members to seek guidance from experienced practitioners
- Note: This program is currently in development and will launch soon.
Ethics
The Ethics Portfolio Committee upholds SAASWIPP’s commitment to promoting high ethical and professional standards among members. With a strong moral foundation, this portfolio contributes to shaping responsible, values-driven practice.
Focus Areas:
- Promote awareness of the moral and ethical principles that guide social work in private practice
- Provide ongoing ethics-related resources and training for members
- Encourage high standards of conduct through information sharing and professional development
- Offer an ethical perspective in SAASWIPP’s advocacy and public messaging

Membership
The Membership Committee ensures a smooth onboarding process for prospective members and supports active members throughout their journey with SAASWIPP.
Responsibilities include:
- Guiding applicants through the membership process
- Responding to queries from new and current members
- Supporting member retention and engagement
- Overseeing award and legacy programs

Specialisations
This portfolio focuses on advocating for the recognition and development of social work specialisations and supporting members in navigating related systems and regulations. The portfolio also addresses members’ concerns with related challenges.

Objectives:
- Promote the value of social work specialisations in private practice
- Advocate with SACSSP and the Council for Medical Schemes on tariffs and recognition
- Collaborate with relevant health and service providers
- Guide members on diagnostic coding (ICD-10) and clinical documentation
- Engage stakeholders on new developments in specialisations
Portfolio of Branches
This portfolio coordinates activities across SAASWIPP’s regional branches, ensuring alignment with national objectives and promoting professional development opportunities.
Objectives:
- Serve as the link between national leadership and local branches
- Provide access to continuing education at branch level
- Encourage innovation and local initiative
- Communicate branch-level activities to the wider SAASWIPP community
- Monitor and support member-focused programs
- Collaborate with other operational portfolios
Education & Research
The Education and Research Committee promotes continuous learning and innovation through training and evidence-based practice.
Objectives:
- Create knowledge-sharing platforms (e.g., webinars, workshops, conferences)
- Facilitate research addressing sector needs, with results disseminated through various channels
- Pilot innovative programs and practices, including the use of technology
- Promote professional excellence through academic and practical exploration
Finances
The Finance Committee manages SAASWIPP’s day-to-day financial operations, ensuring responsible and transparent use of resources as approved by the Governing Board and Executive Director.
