Dr Spurrier has been a social worker since 2004, first in Gauteng and now in beautiful Plettenberg Bay. She is also an internationally qualified mediator since 2019.
In the counselling side of the practice, she handles mainly adult clients who have suffered trauma, those struggling with life adjustment issues, marriage problems and unspecified life events.
One of the main focuses of her practice is supervised child access, parenting co-ordination.
On the mediation side, she designs workable parenting plans, maintenance and divorces and post divorce mediation (where people struggle to abide by the parenting plan).
She volunteers as the on-call social worker for the Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA).
The philosophy Dr Karen Spurrier likes to live by is:
"I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
