My professional journey as a social worker started at Fort Hare where I obtained my B.A.(SW)degree1985 and B.A.(SW)Hons. 1985. These qualifications led to my employment as a social worker, providing community work, rendering child protection work services, and working with psychiatric patients at Sterkfontein Psychiatric hospital. Due to the setting's(this hospital) as an acting social work manager, this led to furthering my studies and obtaining M.A. (SW) management - Pretoria Univ. 2003, specializing in EAP. This qualification exposed me to get involved with not only clients but also with employees' problems- dealing absenteeism and rehab issues. It further exposed me to different Wellness Programmes as a private social workers. In 2014 I joined Joburg Child Welfare and I worked with cases of child sexual abuse and adult survivors of sexual abuse. This led to my PhD (SW) NWU, 2024.Dissertation 'developing a parenting programme for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse'.
